The Custom Pool Cue.
There comes a time in the life of anyone who loves pool, to consider getting a Custom Pool Cue. Why stick to using those cues that are hanging on the wall at the pool club? They are always well used and look and feel that way...and why settle for the regular mass production pool cues that are available on every corner? You know, the one with the signature of the most recent Pool Champion on the side.
The benefits of having your own Custom Pool Cue are numerous. The main point of it is to always play with the same cue. That way you get to know its particular traits for each type of shot that you play. You could even get yourself several Cusom Pool Cues, that way having a cue to suit you for each and every stage of the game, the break, delicate shots, round the table shots, etc.
Of course there are other reasons your game would improve. How would it feel to walk into the pool club, sporting your own Custom Pool Cue. Your opponent using only the club cues...he's already lost the game. The confidence it would give to you and take from your opponent...immediately you are in charge of the game.
So, you have decided to go for it...what do you get?
Now, although Pool Cues are available in a large range of prices, you should not spend less than $100. Anything less is no better than the cues you find on the rack at the local bar. From $100 to $500 dollars though will get you on the right track to a Custom Pool cue which is going to improve your confidence and your game. This is not of course the best you can get, as prices will go into the thousands but it is a good place to start and will get you into the custom pool cue category.
The price will obviously change from one Custom Pool Cue Maker to the next, as does the price of any product when bought from different companies. Each Custom Pool Cue Maker will have his own style and reputation. You should browse a little initially to get a good picture of what's available and from whom.
After you have decided on a price range, then you should find out what are your particular needs. You need to get a Custom Pool Cue which is going to suit you. The length, diameter and weight of each of the sections of the cue should be known in order to get the right cue for you. Try out a few cues at the stores to get a gauge of what you need.
The tip of the cue is also a very important thing to consider. This is afterall the part of the cue which is required to hit the ball right? So should it be soft or hard? This of course also depends upon your playing style, just keep in mind that the softer the cue tip, the more often you will need to renew it. Then, what should the size of the tip be? Well, it should be in the range of 11mm - 14mm, the bigger it is, the less control you have on the ball, but the more forgiving it will be. Again this is going to depend on you.
Do you get the picture? You are going to design yourself your own cue. Your own Custom Pool Cue. Just to top it all off, you are going to have the ability to design your own graphical design for the Cue. The dragon on the side, or the celtic designs running round the circumference. Can you see it?
Go now, get yourself a Custom Pool Cue and improve your game another few levels. Who knows, maybe your signature will be up the side of the cues at the store very soon...
